II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

The requirement is for suitably qualified and experienced museum and gallery (interior) design consultants to provide the contracting authority with interior design services, as part of the on-going project for the redevelopment of the Dorset County Museum (the Project). The total planned cost of the Project is c. 15 000 000 GBP (funded by the UK’s Heritage Lottery Fund, Dorset County Council and other bodies). Within that sum the estimated capital cost of the interior fit-out works will be c. 1 850 000 GBP and the total fees for design services including interior and gallery design will be c. 1 000 000 GBP Sterling. The interior design consultant’s contribution will be to design works for the installation of: highly innovative galleries and exhibition spaces; high-quality reception/hospitality facilities; and state-of-the-art collection and conservation storage facilities providing world-class working conditions for scholars and researchers across a range of disciplines including: palaeontology and pre-history; fine art and textiles; literature and poetry; social history and anthropology.
