Description of the contract

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham invites expressions of interest from suitably experienced providers to tender for Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham. Healthwatch is the new independent consumer champion for both health and social care. The aim of Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham is to give local residents and communities a stronger voice to influence and challenge how health and social care services are provided. Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham will also provide or signpost people to information to help them make choices about health and social care services. The organisation must have knowledge of the local area and the ability to develop connections and relationships with local communities, networks, people and organisations. The key outcomes for Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham are: • People know where to go to raise concerns and obtain information about health and social care services. • People’s views and experiences are heard. • Improved scrutiny of health and social care services. • Commissioning decisions influenced by local people. Organisations may wish to consider partnership work when applying for this tender through sub contract or consortia arrangements. It is anticipated that the service will be delivered from April 2013 for a period of 2 years with an option to extend for up to a further 2 years dependent on service performance and funding. Organisations should be aware that Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981 may apply.
