The wide ranging cardiac surgical programme at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital requires the purchase of three Heart/Lung Machines (HLM’s) to replace aging devices. It is anticipated that one machine will be purchased in financial year 2012/13 and another two machines in financial year 2013/14 The machines will support the implementation and development of the LHCH cardiac service including its Aortic Aneurysm Repairs, Minimally invasive Valve replacements and Coronary Artery Bypass procedures.
The machine consists of three major components. These are;
The Heart/Lung Machine Console.
The Heat Exchanger (Thermo-regulator).
The In-Line Blood Gas and Electrolyte Monitor.
