The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for the supply of a Micro Machining Centre to the Advanced Manufacturing and Research Centre, Design and Proto-typing Group at Catcliffe, Rotherham.
Description of Requirement:
A compact micro machining centre capable of 5 sided machining and ultrasonic machining of a diverse range of components typical of the high value engineering sector.
The machine must be extremely adaptable to accommodate a wide range of parts geometries, sizes and must maintain high geometrical accuracies over the working volume.
Anticipated work piece materials are aluminium alloys, stainless steels, titanium and nickel alloys, hipped ZrO2, Gias Ceramic, Zerodur, Quartz glass and Saphire and equivalents.
