We currently use the mobile ticketing solution, Avantix (AVB2), which we are looking to replace with a new mobile ticketing solution by 30 March 2016.
We currently have a pool of 190 AVB2 units with a further 19 units as hot spares at 10 depots.
Our future mobile ticketing requirements are changing with the introduction of Automated Ticket Gatelines (ATG’s) at a number of stations which Virgin Trains is the lead retailer.
With a similar ticketing solution as AVB2, we would be looking to replace the current pool of hardware with 250 units at 20 depots.
However, we would be open to the personal issue of some hardware components (e.g. tablet or rugged phone) if that is the best solution. In this scenario, we would be looking to issue to 600 staff members.
Virgin Trains is looking for an innovative mobile ticketing solution which would facilitate more staff members to be available to help customers around the station and on-board environments.
Virgin Trains reserves the right to enter into one or more contracts with suitably qualified service providers to provide any combination of the services required.
Virgin Trains may elect at its sole discretion and without reason or explanation to terminate this procurement exercise at any time without payment of any compensation to Tenderers.
