The Point of Care Testing is used for the cholesterol and HbA1C blood tests which are an integral part of the NHS Health Check programme.
The London Borough of Bromley (“the Council”) is inviting tenders for the provision of Point of Care Testing Service. The Point of Care Testing (POCT) is used for the cholesterol and HbA1C blood tests which are an integral part of the NHS Health Check programme, under the Health & Social Care Act 2012, and is a mandatory Public Health Service. The Point of Care Testing (POCT) Service being tendered will require the successful supplier to provide the equipment, consumables and training required for the cholesterol and HbA1c (diabetes) blood test and will include: • The supply of POCT equipment (testing machines), which are then supplied to GP surgeries where the Health Checks will take place. These machines will be covered by a support agreement which is included in the contract price. If a machine fails, it is replaced or repaired under this agreement. • The supply of POCT consumables (lancets, tubes, and testing cassettes etc,) directly to GP surgeries who order their own supplies, and which will be monitored by the Public Health Team. • Provide training and support to GP Practices in the use of the equipment. • The provision of a comprehensive data management and quality assurance systems. This includes the ongoing development and maintenance of a real time, on-line management system that supports commissioners and quality assures the accuracy of test results on a regular basis.
