Safety is one of HS2 Ltd’s core values, and as such HS2 has committed that it will never compromise on health and safety. In ensuring this core value is met by HS2 Ltd, it will be using the lessons learnt from previous large infrastructure Projects with a goal to:
— Design, build and operate the railway to meet or better the performance standard of HS1,
— Reduce safety risks as low as reasonably practicable, and
— Ensure that safety risks are in line with best current international practice.
HS2 Ltd require continuous support in the delivery of its system safety responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, providing HS2 Ltd with a route wide overview and technical expertise on safety in relation to railway infrastructure, safety risk assessments and guidance on system safety protocols.

II.2.4)Description of the procurement:
The System safety, security and interoperability (SSI) team embedded within Operations and infrastructure management directorate (OIMD) is responsible for the route wide system safety demonstration and safety, interoperability and security approvals of HS2 Ltd to its external stakeholders; the Office of rail and road (ORR) and Department for transport (DfT). The SSI team is tasked with providing assurance that the HS2 infrastructure (Including design and Rolling Stock) is built with safety in mind across Phase 1, Phase 2a and Phase 2b.
HS2 Ltd require continuous support in the delivery of its system safety responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, providing HS2 Ltd with a route wide overview and technical expertise on safety in relation to railway infrastructure, safety risk assessments and guidance on system safety protocols.
Throughout the Contract duration, HS2 Ltd will call-off from the agreement via task orders as requirements are identified to fulfil the deliverables across multiple safety work streams.
