II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:

Wales and West Utilities (WWU) has around 35 000 km of gas pipelines covering Wales and the South West of England. WWU excavates in the highway and on private property to satisfy a number of requirements, principally:
— To repair leaking gas mains — circa 20 000 faults per annum.
— To connect approximately 10 000 new gas consumers per annum.
— To renew between 400 and 500 km of old iron gas mains per year.
WWU also carries out diversion and reinforces a quantity of its gas mains each year.
The work is carried out through WWU own direct labour organisation, and for the renewal programme, through the tripartite Alliance made up of WWU, AMEC Foster Wheeler and Morrison Utility Services Ltd.
Reinstatement is an integral part of WWU activities that impacts on our customers, Highway Authorities and the Public.
The scope of this tender will be 2 lots: black/white top reinstatement and black/white top reinstatement including the backfill element associated with our works.

— Blacktop/Whitetop etc. (tarmac or concrete depending on the site requirements).
— Road marking (if required)
