Tube Lines (Transplant division) operates a non passenger fleet of engineering trains which are used to transport engineering materials, plant and equipment across the London Underground network. Across these assets, various wagons require modification. All wagons will need to be transported to the successful tenderer(s) facilities where the modifications shall take place. Some of the wagons shall require the successful tenderer(s) to turn upside down (invert) the wagons in order to carry out the modifications (Lots 1 and 2). Details of the modifications required are stated in Annex B.

The modification concerns four 30t general purpose match wagons. Currently these wagons are fitted with low level buckeye couplers. It is planned to modify these wagons so that they have low level ward couplers fitted.

Lot No: 2 Lot title: Rail wagons with end loading equipment modifications

1)Short description:

The modification concerns four 20t rail wagons with end loading equipment. Currently these wagons are fitted with end loading equipment for collecting rail from the ‘four foot’ on the London Underground network. The wagons are fitted with standard height buckeye couplers at both ends of the wagon. It is planned to modify one end of the wagon to have a low level buckeye coupler. At the same time the end loading equipment will be switched around on the wagons.

1)Short description:

The modification concerns six Wagons. This conversion will provide the flexibility to operate the new wagon rake as a modular formation (two to six wagon consist) to provide the capability to deliver 16 m composite conductor rail, standard 18 m rail and up to 31 m long switch rail to the ‘four foot’ using the wagon end chutes or side loading cranes.

This is Tube Lines Limited’s last call for competition i.e., this notice is a call for competition in accordance with Directive 2004/17/EC. It is not intended that any further call for competition be made although Tube Lines Limited reserves the right to place further calls at its sole discretion interested parties should also note:
This is a request for expressions of interest only, Pre – Qualification documents, if applicable, will be issued to all parties who express an interest (subject to the conditions below). Tender documents may be issued in due course Tube Lines Limited’s conditions of contract will apply. Full details will be included in the Invitation to Tender Document.
The contract and any matters, including the disputes, arising out of it will be subject to English Law and the Exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
Tube Lines Limited does not bind itself to accept any tender Registration of interest in this project by any party does not guarantee inclusion of the party on the tender Enquiry list.
