Durham County Council Commissioners would like to work in partnership with Providers to develop tailored services to meet the individual social care needs of vulnerable children, young people and families. Providers who have experience of working with children and young people with a range of complex needs are invited to consider the current opportunities listed below and express interest to obtain further information from Commissioners by contacting AHS.Commissioning@durham.gov.uk. 1. Weekly respite service – A weekly respite service for a 17 year old young person to be supported away from the family home each weekend. The young person will require specialist tailored support from experienced staff who can understand and meet their individual needs relating to their autism spectrum, ADHD and psychosis. Commissioners and the Care Team would like to work with Providers on creative and bespoke solutions to meet these needs. 2. Carers service into the home of individual children – a provider is required who can supply carers to live in the home with three sibling children and young people for four nights each week. The parent of the children will not be residing in the property for the coming months. In order to meet the needs of the children the preference is for the children to stay together within their own home. Two of the children have disabilities and the property has been adapted to accommodate their individual needs. A family member will live in the home for 3 nights per week and a provider will be required to supply consistent carers for the remainder of the week. A care agency will be commissioned to provide a package of support to these carers as required. 3. Support into a family home – support workers are requiring to provide in-reach to enable a child to return home. This support would be required into a family home primarily to carry out some supervision, observations and assistance to children and parent when required. The support package would need to support safe return of a child to a family home under a supervision order.
