1.1. The University of Cambridge, Hutchison/MRC Research Centre provides modern laboratory accommodation and state of art research facilities;
1.2. Hutchison/MRC Research Centre currently operates 2 autoclaves that provide sterilisation services to the research centre. They are in daily use and are run in different cycles, including:
— Media cycle for bottled liquids;
— Plastic cycle for tips, plastic, empty glass and wrapped instruments;
— Discard cycle to decontaminate laboratory waste;
— Fabric cycle for textiles.
The main Hutchison/MRC Research Centre installation characteristics are as follows:
— There is no external steam supply available;
— No RO water source currently available;
— Softened mains water for cooling is available;
— Heat extract is available, which may need to be adjusted.
2. Scope of Requirements:
2.1. The department requires 2 floor standing, front loaded, steam sterilisation autoclaves with steam generator mounted within the frame of the autoclave more fully described in Section 3 of this tender.
3. Equipment Demonstrations:
3.1. It is the University’s intention to complete the tender evaluation in such time that the contract for this equipment could be awarded within 6 weeks of the tender closing date. Please note that companies invited to tender may be required to provide access to demonstrations of their proposed systems at appropriate premises.
