The FCO has several hundred staff working on communication in London and across its global network. Staff working on communication range from qualified professionals to diplomats with no prior communication experience to experienced locally employed staff to new starters. Staff regularly move into and out of communication roles so there is a constant requirement for high-quality training to bring staff to the required level to deliver effective communication and to build and refresh their skills.

Design, delivery and an evaluation framework for a comprehensive training offer for staff working in communication roles for the FCO, focusing particularly on using communication to explain and deliver foreign policy outcomes, planning and delivering successful campaigns to international audiences, developing engaging and impactful content, understanding and using relevant communication channels and methods including working with the international media, using audience insight to engage and influence, applying internal communication and staff engagement techniques to improve coordination across arms of HMG overseas, and tools and campaigns to project the UK positively. The offer should be fully compatible and dovetailed with the L&D offered to UK government communicators by the Government Communication Service.
