Description of the contract

The Royal Parks manages eight of London’s Royal Parks – St James’s Park, The Green Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Regent’s Park (& Primrose Hill), Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park. It is also responsible for a number of other areas including Brompton Cemetery, Victoria Tower Gardens and Grosvenor Square Gardens. The Royal Parks is an executive agency of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The Chief Executive supported by the Senor Management Team, is responsible for the day to day management of the Royal Parks and is accountable to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. The Royal Parks’ inherent purpose is to conserve and improve the fabric of the Parks including their building and structures, to improve the presentation, safety and enjoyment of the Parks for the benefit of visitors and through its conservation policies to contribute to London’s biodiversity. The Royal Parks are looking to appoint a call-off Framework of Contractors for the next four years to cover future irrigation installation and maintenance across the Royal Parks. The intention is ideally to appoint four Contractors to the Framework. Once appointed then a mini-tender will be undertaken against each individual job and the appointed Contractors will be invited to quote for this work. The Royal Parks have undertaken a review of existing irrigation systems and drawn up a report that has identified a significant amount of work required to renew and/or repair existing systems valued in the region of £600k (c. £150k pa). The Royal Parks are seeking Irrigation Contractors, suitably experienced in installation and maintenance of irrigation systems. Contractors will be expected to show strong practical experience of work within this field and experience of working within a public park environment would be an advantage but not essential. The Royal Parks will be using NEC3 Form of Contract for the Works.
