ScotRail plans to operate additional train services to Gleneagles station between 23rd and 28.9.2014 for the 2014 Ryder Cup. In order to maximize the capacity offered for spectators wishing to travel to the event by rail, ScotRail requires a competent Operator to supply and operate 3 Locomotive Hauled Coaching Stock (LHCS) train sets to support the special event timetable.
It is currently anticipated that the LHCS train sets will operate between Glasgow and / or Edinburgh and Gleneagles as well as Perth and Gleneagles. Full details of the services to be operated will be provided in the invitation to tender.

II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:

The scope of the contract will include:
3 sets of British Rail MkII or MkIII Locomotive Hauled Coaching Stock (LHCS), certified for passenger use on the GB rail network. Each LHCS set must have a minimum of 500 standard class seats and 4 standard and 1 universal toilets.
Sufficient locomotives to haul each LHCS set from the overnight stabling location to the originating station and then in passenger service to and from Gleneagles before returning to the overnight stabling location.
Provision of an overnight stabling location.
Driver, guard and dispatch staff to safely operate the train in passenger service.
All safety certification to operate a passenger service for the event.
Reliability of service is critical. Attending the event is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of those who will be lucky enough to get tickets. The LHCS operator must therefore provide sufficient technical support (staff and spare components) to ensure a reliable service.
The LHCS operator will be responsible for cleaning the train interior after every passenger service, replenishing water tanks and emptying toilet tanks if appropriate.
