Description
Leicester City Council wishes to appoint an appropriately qualified training provider for 3 x 2 day courses on the subject of Developing Ant-Discriminatory Practice, including one specifically for foster carers.
This course forms a central part of the training for social care staff whether working with adults or children. Participants will come to the course with a wide range of existing knowledge and skills and will work in a range of settings in social care. We expect 40 staff to access the training and be able to apply the knowledge and skills gained in their daily work with confidence.
We additionally require one delivery specifically for Foster Carers (additional 20 learners) taking into account this groups specific needs and situation.
Target Group: Adult and Children’s Social Care Staff and Foster Carers
Number of staff to be trained per event: 20
Number and length of events: 2 x 2 day course (plus 1 x 2 day course specifically for foster carers)
Dates if known: between September 2013 and March 2014
Venue if known: Leicester City Centre venue
Objectives:
The course will enable the participants:
• To recognise and respect the individuality and personal beliefs of service users, their family and friends.
• To have knowledge and understanding of how discrimination and racism operate at both individual and institutional levels and how these impact on service users.
• To have knowledge and understanding of how caring services can lead to disempowerment and discrimination.
• To gain knowledge and understanding of current developments in respect of anti-discriminatory practice, race equality, and Social Care and Health policy and practice.
• To identify how they might adapt their behaviour and working practices to take account of Anti-Discriminatory Practice.

Responses will be assessed on a criterion which includes Quality and Price. Detail of which are provided within the RFQ document. Interview Dates if required will be w/c 5th August 2013.

This should be returned by 12:00 noon on 02/07/2013 at the very latest.
