Leicester City Council is looking for a Training Provider to deliver the following event:
Event Title: Motivational Interviewing

Number of staff to be trained per event: 20
Number and length of events: 2 x 1 one day workshop

Contracts & Assurance Team Vision Statement:
To improve standards, safety, quality and service performance through outcome focussed contract monitoring and assurance systems. Develop positive working relationships with stakeholders and partners to keep people safe, understand future needs and achieve good quality, best value service.
Service areas within contracts & assurance include Care Homes, Commissioning Services Bureau, Direct Payments, Independent Living, Integrated Community Equipment, Choose My Support, Support with Confidence, Domiciliary care and the Voluntary and Community Sector. The latter area cover a diverse range of services from counselling, Carers services, lunch clubs to advocacy support. Catering for all clients` groups-older people, learning disability, mental health, physical and sensory disabilities.
Objectives: By the end of the course participants will have:
? Gained understanding of a model of change and its application to their work
? Gained a basic understanding of motivational interviewing, its principles and techniques.
? Examined their own reactions to working with providers who are ambivalent or resistant to change.
? Identified assumptions and attitudinal barriers when working with providers where the size and status of organisations differ. Also to identify assumptions and attitudinal barriers when working with providers that work with different client groups.
? Discussed the impact of the work on themselves and will have identified at least one action they could take to support their own emotional wellbeing and/or personal development
? Awareness of the challenges faced in maintaining the wellbeing of service users when working with providers where business or quality of care is affected.
? Motivate providers who are compliant or performing well to continuously develop and strive to improve on performance year on year.
Submissions should include:
? A course plan, including content and methods of delivery. We would like to include Role Play as a delivery method. To enable participants to practice using this technique in a safe environment.
? A short profile of the presenter(s) who will be delivering the training, including experience in this field
? Design and delivery costs
? Travel, meals and accommodation costs, where applicable
? Two references
? Insurance certificates (levels as per Training Providers Agreement)
? If the Training Course is accompanied by supporting material, printing will need to be managed by the Provider.
? Any materials should also be provided electronically so that it can be used as a reference point.

Interview Date, if required: 15th October, 2013
Contract Length: The contract allows for repeat commissions within a 3 year period with options to extend for +1 + 1 years at the sole discretion of the Council.
Training Providers Agreement: You must ensure you are able to meet the requirements in the attached Training Providers Agreement as the successful supplier will be required to sign it when the contract is agreed.
