Leicester City Council, in partnership with De Montfort University’s Creme (Centre for Research into Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship), are looking for an organisation that can provide training services to SMEs within Leicestershire on how to sell to Public Sector Organisations. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Higher Education Innovation Fund.
The project aims to support Leicester’s SME sector in particular those from a diverse background. SMEs will receive support through workshops and one to one support by the proposed tenderer/ provider to create access to supply chain opportunities and help aspiring businesses develop and grow.
Previous Experience and Knowledge
•Demonstrable experience of delivering a highly successful business support programme with the corporate/public sector for supplier diversity.
•Direct experience of developing business owners from diverse backgrounds to take up the support opportunity.
•A high success rate in delivering ERDF outputs, “Number of businesses assisted to improve performance” through 2 days support and “Number of businesses improving performance”.
•Experience of delivering support for the development of business ideas in SMEs and diverse SMEs.
•Experience of collaborating with Higher Education organisations such as CREME to deliver peer to peer learning experience.
•Experience of working on real business projects with entrepreneurs in particular diverse entrepreneurs.
•Detailed knowledge of previous delivery relating to supplier diversity and the Enterprise Diversity Alliance (EDA) Programme in other regions.
•Understanding of knowledge exchange process between higher education and small diverse enterprises.
•Demonstrate understanding of the requirements of trading with large firms.
•Be able to use Knowledge Transfer activities to meet ERDF output requirements.
•Knowledge of working with ERDF funded and HEIF funded programmes.
