Leicester City Council wishes to appoint an appropriately qualified training provider for a 3 x 1 day courses on the subject of Working with Parents Effectively by using Motivations Interviewing techniques.

This course will provide workers with a sound approach and set of practical skills to support behaviour change in families.

We have previously delivered a more in depth course to children’s social workers only. A focus on the Think Family agenda and awareness of adult and children’s workers needs in regard to dealing with families with complex needs has led us to re-align the course to a one day session for both staff groups.

The course also relates to Working with Hostile and Evasive Families which identifies the context, multi-agency landscape and ways of working as well as the definitions and thresholds for working with families with complex needs. This course builds on that knowledge to give workers a set of skills/technique for working with families who need to undertake behaviour change and who have complex and multiple needs.

Target Group: Adult And Children’s Social Workers, Family Support Workers

Number of staff to be trained per event: 20
