This service is to manage and co-ordinate the Transport and Treatment/Disposal of Landfill Leachate produced from selected Norfolk County Council’s Landfill sites.
The County Council has a duty as the operator of six permitted closed Landfill sites in Norfolk (which may increase to seven permitted closed sites towards the end of 2013) to control Landfill Leachate under the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010.
The principal purpose of the contract for which tenders may be sought, is to enable the County Council to perform this duty by disposing of excess Landfill Leachate offsite at a legally compliant disposal facility. The contract is for transport from sites, all of which are within the Norfolk County boundary, to a suitable treatment plant for treatment and disposal.
The Landfill Leachate has been assessed as non-hazardous, the EWC code is 19 07 03. The average volume of Leachate disposed of over the last 2 financial years and the predicted volume for this financial year is 7 300 m3 of Leachate.
