Framework contract for the construction of building and civil engineering works associated with:
— new substations (excluding turnkey substations),
— new buildings within existing substations,
— structures within existing substations,
— foundations and other supporting structures within existing substations,
— refurbishment of existing substations,
— alterations to existing substations,
— miscellaneous works within substations, not included in other contracts,
— miscellaneous works within NIE premises, not included in other contracts.
The works shall be carried out at various locations throughout Northern Ireland.
The contract shall be for a period of 3 years with an option, exercisable entirely at NIE’s discretion, to extend by up to a further 2 years.
The estimated spend of 42 000 000 GPB is for the extended period of five years. The actual spend shall depend on the works to be instructed by NIE under the contract. NIE cannot guarantee the quantity or continuity of works to be instructed under the contract.
Further information on the scope of the contract may be found in the Procurement Information Memorandum and Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, which is available upon request from NIE (see Annex A.II).

This notice is a request for suitable companies to participate in the tendering procedure for Contract B910.
Interested companies will be required to participate in a pre-qualification procedure and provide information requested in the Project Information Memorandum, the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (both documents can be obtained by e mail to person named in Section I.1 of this notice) and any other request issued by NIE.
Only those companies who submit an application by the deadline for receipt of participation requests (ref. Section iv.3.4 of this notice) and respond by the due deadline for requested information may be considered eligible to participate in the pre-qualification procedure.
Only those companies that are successful in the pre-qualification procedure will be issued with a tender enquiry document.
The contract may be subdivided into the work elements detailed in Section II.2.1 of this notice, or other elements to be detailed in the tender enquiry document.
NIE reserves the right to award a contract to more than one company for the whole of the works or for each of the work elements.
NIE reserves the right to award the contract for the whole of the works or for each work element to a selected shortlist of companies who, as each project arises, will be invited to submit a priced proposal. The company that submits the most competitive, compliant and acceptable proposal will be instructed to undertake the project.
NIE shall not be held responsible for the payment of any costs or expenses whatsoever or howsoever incurred by a company registering their interest or otherwise participating in the pre-qualification procedure or in the preparation and submission of a tender or otherwise participating in the tender procedure.
NIE reserves the right to amend or terminate this procedure at any time.
