UK Trade & Investments remit is to help UK-based companies succeed in the global economy and assist overseas companies in bringing their high-quality investment to the UK. We achieve this through a combination of civil service and private sector expertise.
UKTI deploys expertise in a way that best delivers value to our clients; through a lean civil servant core strategically directing and working in partnership with private sector specialists. We work with specialist providers with programme management and execution capabilities to provide UKTI with a flexible pool of private sector technology, industry, market & business specialists according to demand and need.
The main requirements of the specialist providers are:
1. Recruitment and deployment of specialists to support trade and foreign direct investment objectives;
2. Knowledge/research generation and management;
3. Knowledge transfer and continuous improvement;
4. Agility to respond to UKTI’s requirements including supporting global operations;
5. Insights into global trade and investment trends and opportunities;
6. Client account management.
UKTI is now seeking Contractors to provide such services and are issuing a framework Contract Notice under the Restricted Procedure along with a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire.
In addition, UKTI will be issuing five initial “work packages” to be competed via mini-competition in parallel with the framework invitation to tender. Initial services are to commence 1.3.2014. for a period of 3 years. The work packages are as follows:
1. Specialist requirement for delivery of HVO projects, including programme management;
2. Sectoral specialist requirements for industrial strategy group – Advanced manufacturing;
3. Sectoral specialist requirements for industrial strategy group – Knowledge intensive and services;
4. Sectoral specialist requirements for industrial strategy group – Energy and infrastructure;
5. Research and non-sectoral specialists, e.g. tax specialists and project managers. Includes knowledge management function.
The value of the five work package Contracts to be let initially is likely to be greater than £80m. UKTI will therefore be looking for organisations to evidence a robust financial position and relevant experience, capability and capacity to manage/supply such a strategically important resource.
