Non-hazardous refuse and waste treatment and disposal services. The City University seeks Expressions of Interest for the provision of Waste Management (i.e., the collection and recycling of waste streams (see below)).
The University is committed to the protection of the environment through the implementation of an effective waste management strategy ensuring legal compliance with all current waste management legislation. (Having attained Eco-campus, bronze and silver awards the University has aspirations to improve its waste management performance to attain the accolade of the gold standard.).
Current waste streams, including general waste, mixed recyclables, WEEE, furniture, hazardous and food waste are all produced in locations across the University which are currently being managed using a number of contracts.
The City University, therefore, invites expressions of interest from suitable organisations for the tender of waste services which will include collection and disposal of waste accompanied by a monitoring and reporting system. The ability to provide on-demand skip and waste collection services is also required.
Experience in the HE sector is desirable with a proven record of working in partnership with organisations to reduce waste going to landfill. You should also be able to demonstrate a system for the payment of rebates for valuable recyclable items.

The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs).
