The museum seeks a designer who deeply connects with the project, conceptualises a modern experience within this significant heritage ensemble, and will be dedicated in working with the museum to define its brief.
To achieve this, the museum is conducting a 2-stage, international design competition. The first stage is an international call for participation, appealing to Architects with relevant experience who identify with the project’s values and are dedicated to its resolution. From these responses a short-list of at least 5 will be selected and asked to produce a design approach at stage 2. The winner is expected to be announced in summer 2016.
The construction budget will be in the range of 130 000 000 GBP — 150 000 000 GBP. The project is planned for completion in 2021. The appointed Architect will lead and coordinate the work packages of a number of direct appointments by the museum, and act as Principal Designer for the project under the Construction and Design Management Regulations 2015.
