Total quantity or scope of tenderThe Agile Nation Project at Chwarae Teg would like to commission research into the barriers to women’s confidence in the workplace and in particular, what prevents women from wanting a promotion. This follows on from findings in a recent research study that Chwarae Teg undertook: ‘A woman’s place’ (2013), that 59% of women would not be happy to stay in their current job but only 1 in 7 women wanted a promotion. In contrast, Chwarae Teg would also like to explore what supports women’s confidence in the workplace and enables women to want to climb the career ladder. These findings are also corroborated by research carried out by ILM entitled ‘Ambition and gender at work’ . This report concluded that women managers have “lower ambitions and lower expectations”. They have a lack of confidence compared with their male counterparts and exert caution when considering career opportunities “women managers are impeded in their careers by lower ambitions and expectations. Compared to their male counterparts, they tend to lack self belief and confidence – which leads to a cautious approach to career opportunities – and follow a less straightforward career path. The higher expectations and increased confidence of male managers propels them into management roles on average three years earlier than women”. As part of this research, Chwarae Teg would like to interview a variety of women: those known to the Agile Nation Project and women who have not had contact with the organisation to also assess the impact the intervention of the project has had on career aspirations. This will involve re-visiting some women who were part of the programme in its early days to track their progress. Further information and specific questions that this project will explore will be discussed with the successful applicant in the Project Initiation Meeting. The following criteria must be adhered to when writing an application for this tender: • The tender will have a maximum value of £20,000 inclusive of VAT. Price and any financial data must be stated in pounds sterling. • Any interested parties must state clearly in their application their ability to meet the Project timescales • The tender must be submitted either in English or bilingually (Welsh and English) • The tender must not exceed 40 pages. • Two hard copies of the tender should be submitted.
