Description of the contract

In January 2012 the Department of Health published ‘Liberating the NHS: Developing the Healthcare Workforce, From Design to Delivery’, which set out the policy framework for a new approach to workforce planning and the commissioning of education and training of the health and public health workforce. The underpinning principle for this reform of the education and training system was to improve care and outcomes for patients. As a consequence of the reform, Health Education England (HEE) was created with one purpose: to help improve the quality of care delivered to patients by ensuring that our current and future workforce has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours to meet their needs today and tomorrow. Health Education North West London,(HENWL), Health Education North Central and East London, (HENCEL) and Health Education South London, (HESL) are three of 13 Local Education and Training Boards (LETBs) set up as part of HEE, to support delivery of HEE’s functions locally through bringing together education providers and health service providers to plan, train and develop the healthcare workforce.
