Description of the contract

The Public Health Team are looking to contract, up to 31st March 2015, for specialist expertise and support in employee/employer health and wellbeing to ensure the implementation of the Well and Working Southampton programme. It is well documented that good work is good for health. However, the economic recession has had a marked impact on Southampton and its residents. Southampton residents earn comparatively less than neighbouring areas and it is estimated that over 42,000 working age residents are not active in the labour market, adding to the relatively high levels of poverty seen locally. To support the Well & Working Southampton project, the provider will be required to draw on their expertise and experience in terms of HR, occupational health and/or employment & health issues, particularly in relation to small, medium enterprises (SMEs), to: • support employers locally to achieve the standards within the national Workplace Health & Wellbeing Charter (www.wellbeingcharter.org.uk/). This will include quality assuring the process of award through developing and managing a panel process • work closely with a range of key stakeholders to improve current practice in relation to the use of the Fit Note locally • facilitate the sharing of learning and expertise between employers and stakeholders on common issues/themes through a number of events / activities. Suppliers are invited to propose their own valuations for this project.
